Choose the right tool
Use Video for a full video, Audio for sound only, and Shorts for an individual short-form clip. Copy the link from YouTube’s Share menu, paste it into Ytdl, and check the returned title before downloading.
Choose a download tool →If your link is not accepted
Use a direct HTTPS link to an individual YouTube video or Short. Channel pages, search pages, and playlist links are not supported as batch downloads. Remove accidental spaces and check that the link opens the intended video.
If a quality option is missing
Only qualities returned by the service are shown. A low-resolution source cannot be turned into HD by downloading it. Audio downloads have no video-resolution selector and are not guaranteed to be MP3 files.
Finding your downloaded file
Check your browser’s download list or your device’s Downloads folder. On a phone, the Files app may show the saved item. Allow enough free space and keep the page open while the file is being prepared.
If the file will not play
Try a media player compatible with the file type. Changing a file extension does not convert the media. If a video has no sound, try another available quality or a different compatible player.
If a download stalls
Check your connection, wait for the current request to finish, and retry once the error is shown. Larger files can take longer and use more browser memory. Avoid starting many downloads at once.
